LADMAS News - Big Model Show

Graham Green, James Darby and Matt Kelly attended the Big Model Show on behalf of the club on 13th August. It was a great event with many people having a go on the flight simulator and asking about the club and hobby.

LADMAS News - Just Go Membership Update

Membership Details 2022

Hi fellow club members.

It’s been another strange year this year and am looking forward to better things and more flying as we soon move into 2022.

Normally I would tell you all about how many members we have and the average member age, but this year will be a bit different as there are some big changes coming along.

Firstly, LADMAS will no longer be accepting payment by either cash or cheques. Last year most of the members paid online by BACS which made life a lot easier.

This year we will be moving to an online platform called JustGo, formally known as GoMember. Now this may sound familiar to a lot of you as this is the same platform that the BMFA have been using for several years for the membership portal.

You will soon be able to login and renew your BMFA insurance, LADMAS club fee as well as the optional CAA and BMFA discount card all from the same online portal. You will also have access to download your BMFA insurance certificate and card if you require.

This will mean your club membership and BMFA insurance will be active instantly and you will be able to make the payment online using various payment options.

As many of you were already paying by BACS anyway this seems like the logical next step to move to a more up to date and streamlined system.

Now I understand some of you may not have used the portal yet but don’t fear I will be available to help anyone struggling to take you through the steps to get online. I do expect a few teething issues this as we get this setup, but I am confident members will find this new system much better in the long run.

One of the benefits of JustGo will make choosing your club membership very simple, with all the payments being calculated and tailored for each member. No more wondering how much your subs are.

One of the other reasons we are moving over to the JustGo platform is to comply with GDPR regulations which I am sure you have all heard of relating to data protection. Our current system does not meet the requirements for being GDPR compliant and keeping your personal data safe is something that we the club feel is important.

Now I am sure you are all wondering how much this will cost. Well yes as all things in life are not free this will incur additional costs to the club and will be paid for with the club fees.

This year the subs will go up by £10.00 for both senior members and over 65 members, some of this increase includes the BMFA £2.00 price increase. The committee have decided to keep junior members at the current price to encourage more younger members to join our hobby.

Now it’s worth mentioning that this large increase should hopefully only apply this year as we merge into this new system, but I am sure you all agree, overall, our club fees are still reasonable for the facilities LADMAS has to offer.

I will be sending out instructions as soon as I can on how to get online and pay through the BMFA portal and expect to have that up and running over the next few weeks. I also will address most of your questions with these instructions so if you can avoid emailing me until this goes live.

Very Important

If you already have access to the portal and have paid your BMFA online, please DO NOT pay any club fees until instructed as I am still in the process of setting all this up and get things tested. You will be notified when we are able to start accepting payments.

One final change is that I have now setup a new dedicated email address that I can manage communication with you all instead of using my personal email address which is constantly full of junk emails. Please update your records and use ladmasmembership@outlook.com for any future email correspondence. This will insure I respond to you more quickly and easily.

Thanks for bearing with me on all this and I look forward to speaking to you all again soon.

Rubbish at the Flying Sites

Hi everyone,

One issue I would like to put to members is the oil drum that we burn wood of the hedge, members are leaving drinks cans in there and when members burn there crashed models the alloy can partly melts and I have to dig them out and take home for disposal, it is not a rubbish bin and can members take any rubbish they bring to take them home
